William Marback, Deputy Inspector General

William Marback is a Deputy Inspector General, a position he has held since 2000. Along with Theodor J. Hengesbach, he heads the office’s Legal Section. From 1989 to 1993, he was an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office where he was assigned to the Appellate Division, Narcotics Prosecution Unit, Felony Review Unit, Preliminary Hearings Unit, Grand Jury Unit, and Felony Trial Division.

After leaving the State’s Attorney’s Office in 1993, he worked as an associate attorney at the law firm of Hoffman, Burke and Bozick (no relation to Inspector General David Hoffman) and the law firm of Freeborn and Peters in their litigation groups. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University in 1985 where he graduated cum laude, and his law degree from DePaul University in 1988.
