Inspector General Hoffman named to reform panel

Chicago Inspector General David Hoffman has been selected to sit on the Illinois Reform Commission, a new independent panel headed by former Assistant United States Attorney Patrick Collins created in light of the recent scandals in state government. The Commission's purpose is to examine the corruption problem in Illinois and make recommendations that would help clean up state government.

Hoffman will be one of 15 members appointed to serve on the panel.

"I am honored to have been selected by Pat Collins to participate in this important effort," said Hoffman. "I agreed to join the Commission because I am confident that the Commission's work will be completely independent and because I think it has the potential to have a significant impact in our state. We need fresh and aggressive thinking on the corruption problems that have plagued us for far too long."

The Reform Commission will work with experts from a wide array of business, government, law enforcement, education, and civic organizations, as well as those who have seen the results of corruption first-hand, as witnesses and victims. The Commission is expected to issue a report of its findings and recommendations at the end of its work.

"Corruption affects every taxpayer, and all of us need to play a role in ensuring integrity in state and local governments," said Hoffman. "I plan to use my experience in this job and my prior job in the U.S. Attorney's Office to help the Commission examine how we can effect true change in this area. Having worked with Pat in the U.S. Attorney's Office, I know he will be a strong and effective leader of this effort, and I look forward to working with him and the rest of the distinguished Commission members."
